Today's update is the first step (definitely not the last) towards equalizing chances for all ship classes. Statistics and calculations I had opportunity to see, showed that disproportions between them were too large. Therefore, for most ships the slot layout has been changed, which largely eliminates this problem. The new layout looks like this:


So if you're worried that your ship has no items - everything is fine and nothing is missing. All items except cannons and missile launchers have been moved to your warehouse.

The second important thing that has been changed is Damage Repair item. This item was the most common choice of almost all players. Other hull items had no comparison to it, among the whole group Damage Repair was simply too good. For this reason, I made a (difficult) decision - DR will no longer be a hull item, but a computer item. Moving it to a more competitive environment and additionally increasing its charge time will make this item less powerful, and therefore not as necessary as it was before.

 

Other changes:

Version 1.1.12

- increased Rotary Switch charge time

- increased Shield bonus

- increased Shield Boost and Shield Debuff bonus

- Shields received penalty to agility

- Turbines received bonus to agility

- slightly increased mine activation area

 

The changes introduced are made so that all ships and all items in their group are more balanced, so that players have a dilemma about what to choose. I don't want there to be ships/items in this game that no one uses. Will these changes be successful? Time will tell. If not, there will definitely be a correction.

Discussions on this topic were very substantive, there were many pros and cons, many objective arguments… In the end, I decided to trust my intuition. It told me from the very beginning that Damage Repair should be a computer (it was supposed to be called Repair Computer), but vision from BSGO tempted me and I moved it to hull components. Now I apologize to my intuition and go back to the original version.

 

AROUND THE GAME

A month has passed since I decided to cooperate with people who like this game and want to help in its development. So far, I have not said a bad word - quite the opposite. I have been repeatedly amazed by level of professionalism and commitment. Quality reports I received made fixing most of bugs a relatively easy task. Over the past month, a lot of bugs have been caught, many small things have been fixed (as evidenced by the entries on this Devlog), and the game now runs much better. That is why I would like to thank everyone who contributed even a small brick to this - without you such progress wouldn’t be possible. Special thanks to _NoName_ and Milsch. You guys make the Unending Universe doing well and growing day by day.
